Published in 1926, self printed with the jizuri seal, in rust coloured ink upper right, with the date underneath, Taisho jugonen saku, followed by the series and image title. One of the rare animal prints from Yoshida's work.

Two wild geese take flight over the crest of a wave. An early koban format print by the prolific nature designer, Koson. This small design was featured in International Harper's Weekly Magazine in 1916. Signed Koson with Koson seal.

An octagonal kacho-ga (bird and flower) design, depicting a sparrow in a bird cage. This design would have been cut and pasted on to an uchiwa fan for decoration. Signature unread, but dating from the late Meiji period.

Excellent impression, colour and condition.
Ohara Koson covered the whole gamut of the natural world in his oeuvre, and has turned his attention to insects in this work. This is a perfect example of the other worldliness in his art, the insect flying around the delicate wisteria. This copy is the paler (and more aesthetically appealing pale lilac, compared to the more robust pink impression. Signed and sealed Koson.
